Myra’s VIP Experience with the Arizona Diamondbacks
On April 6, Myra Blaker, 100, embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime journey at Chase Field, where she was personally selected to join the Arizona Diamondbacks as a VIP guest. Myra’s Hospice of the Valley care team was able to arrange for her to be an inaugural guest of Diamondbacks Wishes for Seniors. This special program grants once-in-a-lifetime experiences to deserving seniors and is sponsored by the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and Arizona Complete Health.
Escorting Myra to the ballgame were her daughter Laura, WV Weyrich Health Care Center caregiver Paul Piperata, Hospice of the Valley nurse Kelly McGovern and social worker Renee Adams, who were on hand to monitor her oxygen and help make sure she had the time of her life!
Myra was gifted her own custom Diamondbacks jersey embroidered with with “MYRA” and the number ‘100’, met the players, captured cherished moments with photos and even collected autographs from her favorite baseball stars. If that wasn’t enough, she also made a heartwarming appearance during the national anthem, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present at the game.
During her time at Chase Field, Myra’s smile grew even wider when she had the pleasure of meeting Baxter, the lovable Arizona Diamondbacks mascot. The joy and excitement radiating from Myra were a true testament to the magic of this special day.
